As a subgroup of the Council the Steering Committee, selected by the Board, at its inception was created to oversee operations, review and update CRE by-laws, regularly caucus with industry segments, and make recommendations to the Board.
The Steering Committee's main role was to develop and execute a formal process for identifying potential research projects, make a recommendation to the Board on which projects to pursue, and work with Nielsen or outside vendors to execute those select projects.
In addition, the Steering Committee is called upon to render opinions on issues such as "who can serve on the CRE?”, “what defines participation”, and "how large should the CRE be / how do we sign up new members?"
